big & small...
I’m sitting here on a weathered picnic table bench in the fresh cut grass at Harvey’s last baseball practice of the season. Go Giant’s! The school year is fading fast and what to say but: BRING IT! The end. Of obligations, homework, crazy schedules, rushed bag lunches, forgotten morning cello’s and grumpy daily dad growl’s. The count down to summer is on and looking back ain’t a thing when the pools open and beach is calling. 11 days to go, ya’ll. Ready? Or not, here it comes.
May served it’s annual purpose. Wake up and make up for winter’s wondrous slow. Treebirds at Steel City was a great night. A blur but beautiful. A taste of the good life is sweet. People buying a ticket to sit and listen to me sing my songs in-between two world class musicians. Dear Universe, more please?? Thank you to infinity and beyond to everyone who came out. June’s gig schedule is an eclectic mix of mini fest’s, backyard bashes and one-off’s including a couple solo gigs. Yep. Solo. Something I promised to never do. But, with May’s treebirds EP release, I have new songs in the world and I’m grateful for the invites to come play them. So, I’ll venture out of my comfort zone rife with pickin’ partners & forts of gear to test the lonesome waters of the folk song & story delivery system; an age old method used before robots called live music;) Wish me luck. But fear not, dance mates - the bands are busy too. I’m psyched to get back to Wyebrook Farm for a big ‘Both Kinds’ show with MCR and Philly Nelson. It’s always great to get back out on the big Sunday stage with Frog Holler at Union Jacks. The Thursday gazebo with Neo Trio’s a hoot too. Union Jacks is a great hang all around. Back at Steel City, my buddies Phil D’agostino, Chris Kasper & Drew Egmont assemble ‘Reckoning Crew’. We play Grateful Dead’s Reckoning start to finish plus. Hezekiah Jones will headline Strawberry Moon Fest (WXPN presents!). See you out there. Take care of yourself and each other.
